Echelon Government Affairs

The Echelon Formation

The echelon formation dates back to ancient infantry and cavalry warfare, as an effective alternative to column, line-abreast, or box formations.

The timeless approach persists to the present day, where it is regularly employed by all branches of modern armed forces. Tactically, echelon formations are used because of the excellent range of vision and mobility offered to each member of the formation. Over land, on the sea, or in the air, it is commonly employed by units to allow them to engage and maneuver as a single entity while enabling rapid and flexible transitions in support of the whole. Strategically, it is used to keep component organizations fresh and effective.

Motivated by analogous considerations, Echelon Government Affairs works as a teammate with the client, using vision and maneuver to partner with the customer and advocates to efficiently accomplish the mission.
